4th July: Forest Edge Practice Day

A challenging but positive return to Forest Edge, with engine issues resolved, a new personal best set, and consistent afternoon pace.
Alfie returned to Forest Edge on 4 July for his first visit back to the circuit since passing his ARKS test there on 16 May.
The day began with some challenges. During the first three sessions, the kart suffered intermittent engine issues, with the engine cutting out on several occasions, particularly after vibrating over the rumble strips. This had been a recurring issue across recent sessions at Dunkeswell and Clay Pigeon since the kart was purchased from BKC Racing, so the morning became as much about problem-solving as driving.
After discussions between the mechanic and Team Principal, the BKC Racing mechanic made a number of checks, changes and fixes during the day. Those adjustments made a clear difference, and the afternoon sessions were much more positive.
Despite the engine issues in the morning, Alfie’s pace showed steady improvement throughout the day. His first session began with a 48.2-second lap as he refamiliarised himself with the circuit, matching his previous personal best at Forest Edge. From there, the progress continued, with session times improving to 47.01, 47.11, 46.82 and then a new personal best of 46.60 seconds in Session 5.
The final two sessions remained consistent, with lap times around 46.78 and 46.85 seconds, showing a strong level of repeatability and control after the earlier disruption.
The day also marked the first outing for Alfie’s new helmet visor strip, proudly displaying the EWST Ltd logo following their announcement as FazePickle Racing’s 2026 Principal Safety Partner. Seeing the partnership represented on track was an important milestone for the programme and a proud moment for everyone involved.
Most importantly, Alfie enjoyed the day. He was back on track, building confidence, seeing karting friends from around the country and enjoying a full day of driving in the sunshine. It was another useful step forward in the 2026 development programme, combining problem-solving, progression, consistency and enjoyment.
