31st May: Dunkeswell Race Day

DKC Super KX Round 3
Alfie took on his first ever Inter Max race day at Dunkeswell for Round 3 of the DKC Super KX Championship — a major step in his move into owner-driver karting.
It was a big ask. Not only was this Alfie’s first race in Inter Max, it was also his first time driving the circuit at Dunkeswell. Missing the Saturday practice meant he went into race day with no prior running at the track, against a field of far more experienced drivers, including some competing in the British Kart Championships this season.
The focus for the day was not on results, but on learning, bravery and progression. Alfie had to adapt quickly to the kart, the circuit, the pace of the field and the intensity of race-day conditions. Throughout the day he continued trying to close the gap to the main pack, using each session to understand the track, build confidence and improve his lap times.
By the end of the day, Alfie had reduced his personal best by around two seconds — a strong sign of progress in extremely demanding circumstances.
Rob Dodds of BKC Racing described the day as both “brave” and a “big ask”, recognising the scale of the challenge Alfie had taken on. It was a tough but valuable first race experience, and an important step in building the race craft, resilience and confidence needed for the season ahead.
